Life is all about choices.

Two important ones are who we choose to spend the rest of our lives with and if we will/won’t have children.

The decision to reproduce doesn’t then define our sole purpose in life. Nor does not having a child make us less of a woman. Every woman has the right to decide what destiny will be the most fulfilling for her.

Society is so judgemental towards the choices women make but the saddest thing is that the majority of the judging of women comes from other women. Tabloid magazines where female celebrities are dissected are predominantly purchased by women. It is up to us to change the way women are viewed within the cultural context of the world.

I don’t believe that because someone is in the public eye that we are entitled to know all about their personal life, unless they themselves wish to share it.

Please read this powerful essay by Jennifer Aniston where she discusses the objectification and scrutiny that she has been subjected to on a daily basis for decades.

Isn’t it time that influential women in the world were respected for what they have to offer beyond their physical characteristics and stereotypical representations of womanhood? What do we need to do to change the conversation?
