Honour

Every time I read the news my heart breaks a little.

It breaks for the tragedies and atrocities that are happening around the world and it breaks for the world that my children will grow up in.

It breaks for the people who were celebrating a joyous occasion and have lost their lives. For the family and friends they leave behind.

I wonder when did the men committing these acts lose their honour or did they ever have any to begin with?

Since the dawn of time and the advent of justice men’s actions have been self regulated by an honour system, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, don’t kill people, don’t rape, don’t steal, don’t cheat, don’t lie etc, it’s what we teach our children so they grow up knowing the difference between right and wrong.

Religion isn’t to blame for a lack of humanity, morality and ethics. Indoctrination and extremism is borne from hate and fuelled by evil.

Every day we wake up and we don’t know if it could be our last. Love yourself, love your partner, love your children, love the people who love you. Spread kindness with the deeds you do and surround yourself with honourable people. Be honourable. Honour is the opposite of revenge.
